Comment: Minimum Wage Increase
Commenting, the SNP's Economy spokesperson, Stewart Hosie MP said:
"This is a totally meagre increase to the minimum wage that will do nothing to address the financial fears of millions of households as they suffer through the Tory-made cost of living crisis.
Time and time again the Tories have left people to languish in in-work poverty by refusing to support our calls to increase the minimum wage to the real living wage of £10.90 an hour.
In contrast, the SNP has used its limited powers to ensure more Scots are paid fairly for their work - with a record number of Scots paid either the living wage or more.
It's increasingly clear that the Tories are unfit and unwilling to do what it takes to support households throughout these difficult times, proving that only with the full powers of independence can we offer proper assistance to those struggling as we build a better economy that works for everyone."
