COMMENT: Latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) GDP Report
The latest GDP report by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) shows that the UK economy flatlined in December last year - dropping by 0.5%.
A pattern of decline depicts a grim economic future with Brexit Britain, exemplifying why Scotland needs independence.

Commenting on the latest GDP figures, SNP Economy spokesperson Stewart Hosie MP said:
"The Tories have trashed the economy and left the UK on the verge of a recession. With Brexit, Tory cuts and mismanagement cutting off growth and hammering household incomes, it's clear Scotland needs independence to escape Westminster control and build a stronger economy.
"The evidence shows Brexit is costing the UK economy billions, harming trade and raising costs for businesses and consumers. It's essential that the Chancellor brings forward a package of support to help people through the Tory cost of living crisis. "The SNP will continue to press for immediate support for households - but the only way to properly protect Scotland's economy from the damage of Brexit, and Westminster control, is to become an independent country and regain our place in Europe."
