Boris Johnson unfit to be Prime Minister

Boris Johnson has been elected Leader of the Conservative Party.

Commenting, Dundee East MP, Stewart Hosie said:

"The result of this election, decided by less than 0.02% of the population, has made a hard no-deal Brexit almost inevitable."

"Boris Johnson, who once compared Muslim women to "letter-boxes" and "bank robbers" and who claimed that Scots should not be Prime Minister, is not a man who is fit to be Prime Minister. His time as Foreign Secretary proved he is incapable of seriously representing the UK on the world stage."

"His Brexit obsession is not only completely out of touch with the majority of Scots who voted remain, it shows a clear disregard for entire industries and many thousands of livelihoods in Scotland, and across the UK, that will be disastrously affected by the hard no-deal Brexit he'll undoubtedly lead us to."

"Indeed, It says a lot about what his own close colleagues think of him and his toxic plans to take us out of the EU when multiple high ranking cabinet members announced their resignations in protest of him becoming PM."

"It's little wonder a majority of people in Scotland believe that there should be a referendum on independence. Scotland's future should be in Scotland's hands, not his."
