MP WELCOMES FUNDING BOOST FOR MONIFIETH BREFRIENDING SCHEME

Stewart Hosie, MP for Dundee East, welcomes a grant of £150,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to the Monifieth Befriending Scheme.

This funding will help the project match up older, isolated people or those who have experienced bereavement with volunteers who can offer company and opportunities to pursue interests. The organisation also provide social events that allow groups to come together and enjoy each other’s company.

The local MP commented:

"This is a fantastic boost for the grassroots charity, which will allow them to continue their vital work in my constituency.

Lindsey le Grice, Project Co-coordinator of Monifieth Befriending Scheme, added:

"We are absolutely delighted to receive this grant from the Big Lottery Fund.

"This funding will go a long way in helping our charity meet the continuing demand for our befriending service in the local community."
